Ukum Local Government Area

Ukum local government was created in September 1991 by Col. Fidelis A. Makka as the military administrator.

LOCATION:

The local government is located at the East-north of Benue state and in the zone A senatorial district.

BOUNDARIES:

The area is bounded by Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, Logo Local Government Area, then Taraba and Nassarawa States.

LANDMASS:

429,10sq KM.

CLIMATE:

It experiences two distinct seasons of:

  1. Raining and
  2. Dry season

POPULATION:

Ukum Local Government Area has a population of about 183,422 people according to 2006 population census.

PEOPLE:

Ukum Local Government is basically composed of Tiv people. It shares house of representative seat with Logo and Katsina-Ala local government areas and has a state house of Assembly seat.
