Important Things To Know About Prof Daniel Iyorgande Denga
Professor Denga was born on a very cold day of 1st January 1944 according to his father Denga Diogo who did not see anything like birth recording facility in his rural village at that time, but carefully noted the year of his shifting cultivation as an adroit farmer and marked the birthday.
Prof. Denga hails from Mbakunu ward in Shangev-ya, Kwande Local Government Council of Benue State, Nigeria.

- Prof. Denga has been a professor of counselling Psychology since October 1985 a stretch of 39 years as a professor, lecturing in the University system.

- Prof. Denga received his Primary Education at the N.K.S.T. Adikpo, Mkar Teachers’ College Mkar (near Gboko) in the 1960s.
- He earned admission into the Advanced Teachers College, Zaria for the NCE qualification where he demonstrated an excellent trajectory by spending ONLY one year there to cross over to the Ahmadu Bello University for his Degree qualification. During his one-year study at the Advanced College, he enrolled in the London Advanced General Certificate Studies which he passed very well and obtained the Admission requirement to enter the University without studying for 3 years at the College for the NCE qualification.
He obtained his B.A. and M.Ed. at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria after which he gained admission to Michigan State University (in the USA) for PhD.
Prof. Denga quickly completed his PhD. In 2 years (1977 to 1978) where he returned to Nigeria and was employed in the University system.
Thus, his academic trajectory was evident throughout his learning career.
Administration
Prof. Denga lectured at Ahmadu Bello University, Bayero University Kano, University of Jos, a founding Dean of the National Open University, Abuja, University of Calabar (for 35 years), Benue State University for a brief period before harsh conditions of serve proved impossible for him to stay. He is currently doing a contract service at Nasarawa State University, Keffi. Incidentally, Prof. Denga was one of a seven (7) member team that was appointed to establish Nasarawa State University some 21 years ago. In most of these Universities, Prof. Denga was either H.O.D or Dean of Faculty.
Prof. Denga was appointments:
- Director, Institute of Public Policy and Administration (IPPA) University of Calabar.
- Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Admin) University of Calabar (1998 – 2000).
- Several appointments within the University of Calabar.
- Deanship of Education for several tenures.
