Mimidoo Mirabelle Uhundu was born on 6th June 1998. She is from Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State. She undertook her secondary school education in Makurdi and proceeded to the prestigious Benue State University (BSU) Makurdi where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English.

Mimidoo is an award-winning Beauty Queen with several accomplishments in her modeling career including;

• Winner of Miss Peniel Beauty Pageant 2012
• Winner of Miss Becky Arena 2014
• Winner of Miss Food Basket Heritage 2018 and 2019
• Winner of Face of Middle Belt Nigeria 2019 and 2020

Mimidoo is a strong and determined woman who believes that little drops of water make an ocean so she is determined to contribute her little efforts towards societal development. She is passionate about the plight of girls and women, with particular interests in curbing biases along gender lines. This very passion led Mimidoo to become the Executive Director of the Spring of Hope for the Girl Child Development Initiative (SHoGDI).

SHoGDI is a non-governmental non-profit, charity and advocacy organisation. It was established due to social issues such as the continuing prevalence of female genital mutilation (FGM), gender-based violence (GBV), rape, poor sexual and reproductive health (SRH) among rural women and girls. SHoGDI also focuses their work on tackling the general marginalisation and discrimination against women in society, the problem of mental and emotional health among women who have survived abuse and stigmatisation of some form, and the general low hygiene standards among the rural communities, particularly amongst females of reproductive age.

SHoGDI was founded to be a rallying point for volunteers who shared Mimidoo’s vision to address the identified problems, and through carefully integrated projects, the charity has been able to formulate a broad programme of activities that supports women and girls in both the urban and rural settlements.

SHoGDI’s MISSION

• The vision of the organisation is to see a world where women, girls, and other vulnerable groups are free from all forms of abuse.
• To build independent women through advocacy, research, economic empowerment, and other relevant interventions.
•  To see a world in which progressively more women and girls of reproductive age are empowered with information and economic means to be healthy and self-reliant.

The organisation is duly registered with the corporate affairs commission under the COMPANIES AND ALLIED MATTERS ACT CAP C20 LFN 2004.
