Your Minister’s Portfolio

Development, Stories 22/08/2019 by Ivereniter Tserga

Whether you support a minister or his portfolio, I think the hilarious part of all this banter, arguments and insults is the fact that:

  • There is still no light in your house.
  • There is still no water.
  • No ambulance will come to pick you up in an emergency.
  • If one needs oxygen in the underequipped hospitals, he will die.
  • River Benue is still an island, houses will still flood.
  • There are still no roads to your house or village.
  • Your children will still struggle to gain admission in schools and go on strike.
  • The police are still rubbish.
  • The naira is rubbish.
  • Kidnapping is increasing.
  • Death and hunger will keep staring at you, and so on.

Nothing is working in this country, no sector is better, I can only bet it’s worse than last year, That’s how low we will continue sinking.

Your leaders are your servants and they have failed Nigeria and Nigerians. You can go ahead to fight yourselves because of these politicians; because of your stomach, solidarity, party affiliation or whatever! Your children are going to inherit the Nigeria we have all enabled!

I think the worst bunch are the ones who make the most noise because of crumbs they expect or are hoping for, crumps from these greedy leaders that have stuffed themselves with the collective good of everyone to “help” you while you try and survive in the dysfunctional environment they have created.

I also really wonder what you expect from the same people who have helped to plunge Nigeria into what it is now – a laughing stock for the rest of the world. Do you sincerely think that such leaders will have a change of mind? The same set of people? and suddenly they will start working and your situation, state and Nigeria will get better?

You better start seeing Nigeria beyond yourself – your tribe, your state etc. In the end, none of these matters!

All that matters is you were born into a shitty country, struggled for basic amenities and every other thing, died and left it worse.

Nothing is working in this country, no sector is better, I can only bet it’s worse than last year, That’s how low we will continue sinking.

Let us keep fighting, killing, insulting ourselves, taking sides, making excuses, playing politics, being selfish etc.

Is Nigeria or your state better off?

I hope you are proud of Nigeria and state you leave for your children … because we all helped and are further helping to create it.
