Join Social Media

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, flanked by Hon. Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Benue State, Chief Odeh Ageh, said information managers should communicate facts to drown negative information and falsehoods on social media.

“They are also to be proactive since if they go to sleep those who are working on social media to discredit government are awake,” he said.

He also said the best way for information managers to whittle the negative information about government on social media is for the managers themselves to join social media.

Chief Mohammed stated all this at the ongoing 46th session of the National Council on Information (NCI) in Asaba, Delta State.

The theme for this year’s meeting is “Leveraging on Information and Digital Technology to Sustain the Change Agenda of Government.”

Chief Odeh Ageh, leads a team of Benue state delegates here.

Delta State Governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, has just declare the meeting open.
The minister, who is the Chairman of Council, is leading a delegation from the ministry in the three-day meeting.

Other delegates in attendance are commissioners for information and officials from ministries of information and their parastatals from the 36 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The National Council on Information is the highest policymaking body for information articulation and delivery in the country.
