Why Are Our Helpless Neglected?
Tse-Agberagba is the capital of Konshisha local government area. It is one of the most underdeveloped local government capitals in Benue State.
Tse-Agberagba as a Local government capital had no electricity until the last year’s of former Governor Gabriel Torwua Suswam‘s administration.
Taxes are left in the hands of hoodlums, hoodlums that are given authority by the elites.
One of the main features of Konshisha LGA, particularly Gungul and Tse-Agbaragba axis is the abundance of orchards. Another thing to notice is the lack of storage and processing facilities. This lack results in loss of these products in large quantities (find attached some pictures). Let me mention, a sack of oranges in Konshisha goes for as low as 500NGN. You could get a bucket of oranges for as low 50NGN.
Why will a state government continue to lament about lack of revenue/funds when it ignores the numerous channels that can improve the IGR?
They came to buy oranges and yam in large quantities but were held hostage by the hoodlums.
Talking about IGR, there is little or no presence of the ‘Board of Internal Revenue Service’ in Tse-Agberagba. Taxes are left in the hands of hoodlums, hoodlums that are given authority by the elites. They have no uniforms, no ID cards and tax at will. They mount road blocks and are aggressive in their approach.
There is only one health care center in Gungul, it got burnt some time ago and has remained unattended
Yesterday I noticed the presence of stranded business people from the east. They came to buy oranges and yam in large quantities but were held hostage by the hoodlums. I spoke with one who said she will never come back. Narrating her ordeal, she mentioned little profit from sales, excess taxation by hoodlums on the highway and bad roads ( The only tarred road in Tse-Agberagba is the high way that passes through it).
The chairman of Konshisha LGA doesn’t stay in Tse-Agberagba, she probably has not spent a night there this whole year. Maybe because there is only one hotel in Tse-Agberagba and it is In a bad condition.
There is only one health care center in Gungul, it got burnt some time ago and has remained unattended. This has resulted in avoidable loss of lives.
