Tor Tiv Adopts Nev Twins As Royal Daughters

The Tor Tiv, Professor James Iorzua Ortese Ayatse, Friday 3rd November 2023, announced the formal adoption of Mercy and Blessing Nev as part of his royal family.

He made the announcement when the Benue State Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Mathew Abo, presented the performance twins to him at his palace in Gboko.

Represented by the acting Director of the Benue State Council for Arts and Culture, Mrs Janet Daagba, the commissioner explained that the twins were recently honoured by the Benue State House of Assembly for promoting cultural activities.

The Tor Tiv expressed happiness that the twins had taken to making positive contributions in the culture sector rather than waywardness stressing that they were uplifting the entire Tiv race.

He stated that henceforth they should not hesitate to call upon him to perform any parental responsibility even as he gave them immediate financial support.

Professor Ayatse commended the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Honorable Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh, and the entire House for effectively using their position to uplift others in the society.

The royal father said he was also happy that the State Council for Arts and Culture was living up to its responsibilities of talent hunt and grooming.

The Information, Culture and Tourism Commissioner, Mr. Aboh had earlier led the twins to present the award plaques and certificates to the Tor Tiv.

The Nev twins also performed in the palace to entertain the royal father.

Officials of the Association of Tiv Traditional Singers including Akwashi Uyegher, President, and Iwen Aso, Secretary, as well as former Principal Special Assistant to the Governor on Culture and Tourism, Mr. Tahav Agerzua, and renowned master of ceremony, Sam Paddy, among dignitaries who witnessed the event.
