Education, Stories 3/05/2018 by Francis Ajai, Programme Manager, NHGSFP

Following the disbursement of the Eight Tranche of payment to cooks participating on the Home Grown School Feeding Programme, the Benue State Office of the National Social Investments Programme wishes to notify cooks, School-Based Management Committees and the general public that feeding for the Third Term of 2017/2018 Academic Session will commence on Monday, 7th May, 2018 in all public primary schools across the state.

A robust Monitoring and Evaluation framework has been developed to ensure that all participants in the implementation of the Home Grown School Feeding Programme in the state act in accordance with stipulated guidelines as laid down in the implementation manual of the programme.

Meanwhile, orientation exercises for newly recruited cooks will hold at the secretariats of the Twenty Two (22) Local Government Areas of Benue State on Saturday, 5th May, 2018. However, cooks for Makurdi are to meet at Government Model Secondary School, Makurdi for their own orientation exercise on the same day.

Time for these exercises is:

8 am prompt across all venues and attendance is MANDATORY for newly recruited cooks.

Cooks are advised to use alternate channels of transferring monies like mobile banking applications, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards and the use of the Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) codes of the partner banks – *329# for First City Monument Bank and *822# for Sterling Bank to access funds rather than crowding at the premises of the banks.

We wish to warn for the umpteenth time that cooks found wanting in the delivery of the programme in their schools of posting will be decisively penalized in accordance with the provisions of the law. We also solicit the support of all stakeholders in monitoring the implementation of the Home Grown School Feeding Programme in their respective domains and report any lapses noticed to the office through any of the following help lines:

  1. 08122224426,
  2. 08176160686,
  3. 08056100055,
