Ter Kwande, HRH Engr Timothy Tavershima Ahile

Ter Kwande from August 2021 to Present

HRH Engr Timothy Tavershima Ahile is a COREN registered engineer and a member of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE).

Date and Place of Birth:

4th June 1961, at Mbaza, Ikurav ya. 

Education Background:

  • 1981 to 1986 – University of Jos, Makurdi Campus
    (B.Eng. Production Engineering and Design) 
  • 1980 – Government Secondary School, Lafia
    (Obtained WASC)
  • 1975 – NKST School Ahôbee
    (Obtained FSLC)

National Service:  

NYSC, then Imo State at Asaga Ohafia, where he taught Introductory Technology and Mathematics. While at Ohafia, he joined an age grade to understand the Ohafia people.

Work Experience:

Engr TT Ahile first worked as a Trainee operator at the NNPC Kaduna refinery before proceeding to the university. His post-graduate work experience started at DELCON Engineering Company Limited Warri, Where he cut his teeth as a young engineer, controlling heavy equipment on land and offshore in the swamps of the Niger Delta, where construction of oil well heads and laying new oil pipelines to the flow stations and salvaging old oil pipelines. He later picked an appointment as a Teacher of Introductory Technology, Technical Drawing and Mathematics at Usar Technical College and Government Technical College, Makurdi. He later transferred intercadre to the Benue State Ministry of Works and Housing. 

At the Ministry of Works, he was responsible for running the central mechanical workshop. Plus maintenance of Generating Sets at the Benue State Government House. Engr Timothy T Ahile also supervised the activities of all the VIOs in Benue state and the Fire Service Unit. He was also responsible for the supervision of Mechanical Services in Buildings and the Preparation of Budget estimates for the Mechanical Directorate of the Ministry of Works. He left the Ministry of Works on transfer of Service to the University of Agriculture, Makurdi as a Senior Mechanical Engineer. Where He rose through the ranks to Deputy Director, Works and Maintenance. Engr Timothy T Ahile was Acting Director of Works and Maintenance when he voluntarily disengaged to serve his people of Kwande as Ter Kwande in August 2021.

Achievements As Ter Kwande:

  1. HRH Engr Timothy T Ahile has created Ate u Kwande to connect all Ônov Kwande,
  2. He has taken physical possession of the piece of land earmarked for the building of the Ter Kwande Palace. Designs have been done and some materials deposited on site. 
  3. He has reorganised the Traditional rulers’ Welfare/cooperative society that serves the traditional rulers well. 
  4. He has ensured that every Kwande person gets justice and lives in peace. 
  5. He has insisted that no traditional ruler in Kwande will cover or promote evil in Kwande, all forms of evil must be eliminated. The Ter Kwande has caused the Kwande people to develop an agenda, a roadmap that will serve as the path to follow in developing the LGA.

Positions:

Engr TT Ahile has a strong sense of justice hence he joined the Non-teaching Staff Union becoming a branch Chairman, SSANU and was elected to serve the union as Zonal secretary of the northern zone covering the 19 northern states and FCT. 

Later he was elected as the Northern Zonal Chairman where he helped to organise most of the SSANU branches in the Universities of the North. 

He also served the Union as National Financial Secretary. 

In the University community, he served in many committees such as the University/Host relations committee which he served till his disengagement from the University. VC’s office appraisal committee, University Budget monitoring committee, FGN needs assessment monitoring committee to 6 Universities, 

He was actively serving the UAM Alumni, becoming the pioneer Campus chapter Chairman, during which he managed the Uniagric Water Factory and Alumni plantain farm, growing the farm from 450 plants to 4000 plants. 

He also actively served the church all through his adult years. Elected as Secretary of Youth Fellowship, then Elder in charge of Evangelism for more than 8 years, Acting Pastor of some small rural churches, Served as LCC secretary and DCC delegate. 

Lastly, he served as the DCC Evangelism Team Leader until he was elected Ter Kwande.

Personality, Hobbies and Family:

Engr Timothy T. Ahile loves making friends, helping people and reading. He plays volleyball, hockey and table tennis during leisure. The Ter Kwande, Engr Timothy Tavershima Ahile is happily married to HRH Rhoda Kpadoo Ahile and the union is blessed with 2 children.
